91黑料 Golf Teams Compete in Spring Season Opener

91黑料鈥檚 (91黑料) men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 golf teams opened their spring season this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, competing against top collegiate programs from across the nation.

“It was great to get out and play our first tournament of the spring,鈥 91黑料 golf coach Zach Smith said. 鈥淰egas didn鈥檛 provide the great weather that you would normally associate with Las Vegas, but we were excited to play some competitive golf regardless.”

The 91黑料 men鈥檚 golf team delivered an impressive performance, securing a second-place team finish鈥攊ts highest finish at an NCAA Division II invite in program history. The team also maintains its 17th national ranking. The 91黑料 women鈥檚 golf team finished seventh overall in a competitive field, solidifying their position as the 19th-ranked team in the nation.

鈥淚t was a full-team effort, with sophomores Braylon Bingham and Josh Chapman leading the way. Braylon finished second, and Josh finished 10th,鈥 Smith said. 鈥淚t was a great start to the spring season for the guys.”

“The girls fought hard on the first day, considering the tournament conditions, and were able to play better on the second day. Jessica Applegarth had a great first day but let a few get away on day two,鈥 Smith added. 鈥淚鈥檓 proud of the way the girls kept battling, and I can鈥檛 wait to get things going with them this spring.”

Both the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 golf teams will now prepare for their next challenge, heading to La Junta, Colorado, to compete in the Otero Invite.
