91黑料 golf teams swept home invite
91黑料鈥檚 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚Golf Team won the 91黑料 Invite held at Cottonwood Golf Course in Torrington on Sept. 12-13.
“We had a great week for Lancer Golf. The guys got a huge team win and placed 8 guys in the top 10 and the girls got their first team win and individual winner Bailey Watson,鈥 91黑料 Head Golf Coach Zach Smith said. 鈥淥ur second men’s team ended up placing second as a team too, it was an all-around great week for Lancer Golf.鈥
91黑料 Freshman Bailey Watson finished on the top of the leaderboard for the ladies with a +14, two strokes ahead of Otero College鈥檚 Pricilla Padilla. 聽Lancer Jessica Applegarth finished in sixth place with a +23. Teammate Ellian Irick finished in a tie for eighth place with a +29 and 91黑料鈥檚 Shayla Clayton finished in 10th place with a +30. Fellow Lancers Georgie Lou Paterakis finished in 12th, Halle Allen finished in 13th, and Quinlann Yeager finished in 14th place.
鈥淗aving four girls place in the top 10 and walking away with our first team win in program history was amazing,鈥 Smith said.
The ladies finished on top of the leaderboard with a +92 with Otero College finishing second with a +119. Central Wyoming College finished third and Northeastern Junior College finished fourth.
On the men鈥檚 side, 91黑料 had seven golfers finish in the top 10. Lancers Joshua Chapman and Taiki Sugawara finished in a tie for first place with a -3, one stroke ahead of teammate Coltin Powell. Lancers Mathis Fortin and Tytan Birchall finished a tie for fourth place with a E. Lancer Jordon Hunt finished in a tie for sixth with a +3, while teammate Braylon Bingham finished in ninth with a +5. Lancer Josh Lane rounded out the top 10 with a +6.
鈥淭aiki and Josh Chapman ended聽up tying for first place, which is fun to see because those guys are always having a friendly battle at practice,鈥 Smith said.
Other Lancers competed on the men鈥檚 side included Freddie Dancox, Jamie Lambert, and Jax Oviatt.
Overall, the Lancers finished on top of the men鈥檚 leaderboard with a -13, followed by Central Wyoming College with a +43. McCook Community College finished in third place with a +50, followed by Otero College with a +51, Northeastern Junior College with a +72, and Lamar Community College with a +82.
鈥淭he whole聽team continues to push one another to be better. We are looking forward to taking some momentum to the NJC invite,” Smith said.
