Wyoming鈥檚 First Lady Visits 91黑料 Food Pantry

聽Wyoming鈥檚 First Lady, Jennie Gordon, visited the Food Pantry at 91黑料 (91黑料) on Thursday, Feb. 20.

鈥淚 love how user-friendly it is,鈥 Gordon said, praising the pantry, which is located in the Student Success Center on 91黑料鈥檚 Torrington Campus.

The pantry is supported by donations from 91黑料 faculty and staff, local churches, college clubs, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the Rotary Club. These contributions are used to purchase food to stock the pantry, ensuring that students have access to nutritious options.

鈥淲e partner with the Food Bank of Wyoming and the Cent$ible Nutrition Program, led by Crystal Zerbe. The Cent$ible Nutrition Program is a class at 91黑料 that meets once a week for eight weeks and teaches students how to prepare meals with common pantry items,鈥 explained Sergio Mendez, 91黑料 Student Success/Testing Center Director.

Another notable contribution came from Southeast High School student, Rico Ramirez, who donated his first-place prize-winning pork from the Goshen County Fair. The pork was processed through Bear Mountain Beef and then donated to the 91黑料 Student Pantry.

鈥淭he food pantry is very helpful. The food and snacks are great,鈥 said 91黑料 sophomore Braylon Bingham. 鈥淭here are probably 20-30 students who take advantage of the pantry every day.鈥
